Alemayehu Atomsa dies at age 45 after battle with “typhoid fever”
Awramba Times (Addis Ababa) – Alemayehu Atomesa, former president of the Oromia region and one of the youngest executive members of the ruling party died of “typhoid fever” at the age of 45 yesterday.
Alemayehu was born in Sere village; Bello Boshe Woreda of Eastern Welega and was an elected member of the Oromia Regional state Council since 2009. He earned a law degree and a master’s degree in Public Policy from the Ethiopian Civil Service University and the Chinese Beijing University respectively.
Last month, Oromo People Democratic Organization (OPDO) disclosed that Alemayehu handed a resignation letter to the central committee due to his deteriorating health condition and his request had become effective since February 18, 2014.
According to Awramba Times sources, Alemayehu had been receiving medical treatment in Bangkok, Thailand for the past Five weeks and his remains scheduled to come back to Ethiopia tonight at 10:00 pm local time.
