Awramba Times (Addis Ababa) US Secretary of State John Kerry expressed his concern over Ethiopia’s crackdown against Zone9 bloggers and journalists.

In a press conference held in Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa today, Secretary Kerry said “I shared my concerns [to Ethiopian officials] about the arrest of young Ethiopian bloggers”. The top US diplomat also named Natnael Feleke whom he met last year.

On April 25, police arrested members of a group known as the “Zone9” bloggers – Befekadu Hailu, Atnaf Berahane, Natnael Feleke, Mahlet Fantahun, Zelalem Kibret, and Abel Wabela. Including freelance journalists, Tesfalem Weldeyes and Edom Kassaye.

According to media reports, all were apparently taken to Maekelawi Police Station, the federal detention center in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

International right groups, such as human rights watch were blatantly asking Kerry to emphasize the issue of detained bloggers ahead of his official visit to Ethiopia. Please watch the video below

Concerned or not concerned the warlords of Ethiopia live by the gun until each individual warlord gets a piece of their own medicine like Meles Zenawi and many others did. Warlords rely on doing what they do best. As we seen it for the last two or more decades the only thing these Ethiopian warlords seem to know what to do is squash human beings to a level which even animals should not be subjected to live in while they live a life filled with accumulating wealth to satisfy their ever growing appetite for control.
It seems as if they wish to tie strings to everyone in the country so they pull it to their liking.
Super power will not dare try to go against the warlords of Africa after seeing what happened to soldiers from the Pakistan Army, the Malaysian Army and the U.S. Army’s during the black hawk down in 1993.The exact number of Somali casualties is unknown, but estimates range from several hundred to over a thousand ,with injuries to another 3,000–4,000.
8 American soldiers dead and 73 wounded. Two days later, a 19th soldier, Delta operator SFC Matt Rierson of USA, was killed in a mortar attack. Among U.N. forces, one Malaysian and one Pakistani died; seven Malaysians and two Pakistanis were wounded. At the time, the battle was the bloodiest involving U.S. troops since the Vietnam War and remained so until the Second Battle of Fallujah in 2004.

All the signs we read against the Ethiopian gov’t fanfared by the likes of AI, HRW, Egypt and messengers of shaebia entrenched in these organizations and the west, are pointing towards a concerted effort to start street uprising like in Egypt, Libya and recently Ukraine. The so-called G9 and other extreme diaspora elements like prof Almariam, Berhanu Nega etc are the hiered guns (bandas). The current US (Kerry) administration had been directly orvindirectly visible with the so-called revolutions that left people and devastated by internal fighting, religious and other secterian divisive chaos in those countries? How come a US that has been visibly absent in the renaissence of Africa (Ethiopia) now that it must be derailed through human rights and other disguise? How about the rights of the other Ethiopians whowere kept in the dark prevented to use their natural resources because Egypts ally the US through IMF wanted the status quo of poverty and back- wardnes. Why do the Kerry gov’t ignore the thousands of Egyptian politicians, journalysts and even an elected leader are jailed and sentenced to die? Or is it that Ethiopia has to be a sacrificial lamb for mapping its own developmental path against the old paradigm of keep Africa (except Egypt) in the dark for its resources and a sample for visiting the uncivilized indigens. Or is it the US can’t stand the influence (partnership) with China and is becoming a showcase to the rest of Africa and must be stopped? My hope is that the USwill realize that it can play a bigger role as a partner by supporting and letting the institutions strengthen according to the laws and realities of the land. The US must stop listening to few influential extremes that have grudges with the current gov’t either bevause they jappen to have blood on their hands as members of the DERG, or beneficiaries of the Asmara regime or Egypt mercenaries. The bottom line is for Ethiopia, democracy is not an option it is a must but it has to develope organically accordong to the realities the country is in both historically and geographically. I hope Kerry will have an opportunity the immense stride the country is achieving as a peacefull and vibrant country with immense potential for all to be party to her achieving her goal. May God bless Ethiopia.

So what do you want him to do? This is Ethiopia not USA. He can give order on Guantanamo detaining center. But here in Ethiopia, the only thing he can do is talking to media & express his concern. Keep kissing foreigners hand, looser.

Things continue as usual in Ethiopia hours after Kerry left.
Numerous Deaths reported on Yesterday’s Wednesday MARCH 30,2014 massacre in Ambo Death toll is rising and so far reached as high as 20 and in Robe (Bale) 3 more deaths is reported. Addis Ababa University students stage protest with no significant brutality towards them due to the presence of the international community within Addis Ababa . At Haromaya University an explosion took place wounding scores of students watching soccer game; death reported but number unconfirmed. Dire Dawa University-about 300 students are said have been taken to jail some heavly injured. Heavy police and military presence across college campuses and city centers across the country is looking more intense than the Girgir times which the Meles Zenawi’s generation of students went throrugh to oppose the adhari Amhara feudals that governed the country..

      Wonderful,thank you Hermi

Color revolution has to be stopped at it’s infancy at any cost!!!

The protagonists of the new world order, the engineers of the color “revolutions” wherever they are and who ever they are, have to be made accountable for the misery, death and destruction they have brought on multitudes around the world. From close to millions who perished in Iraq to Libya, from Afghanistan to Syria and now in Eastern Europe, imposing firestorm on the people of the world armed with lofty ideals of equality, freedom and human rights, but in reality advancing the interest of the US and Western imperialists. We Ethiopians should say no to the color “revolution.” Tell them in no uncertain terms…. hands of Ethiopia. Long live our mother land!!!

If I was the president of the USA it is time to bring down Mr. Kerry to his place where he belongs. He is the one who created the Ukrainian problem, and with no exit strategy. He is the most incapable diplomat I had ever known in the USA history. He will create more trouble to our world.Ethiopia should be cautious. During Obama African policy is preparing entirely based on the information they collected from spoiled and infantile Diaspora immigrants. Some of them are human right abuser and jailed and killed their own people in their native country. Now they are cleaned by American soap and become a reliable source for American congress, the infamous HRW, IRN ,and Oakland Institutes who oppose venomously Ethiopian development endeavors! Fantastic congress! and HRW! American policy is now the most damaged by Obama administration. When African problem is development they punished in the name of the same sex marriage. Is it African problem? Who cares who is what? but why enforcement? Thanks to G. Bush for his assistance to reduce HIV/AIDS and other disease in Africa.Africa benefited from him during presidency.
Look what is happening in our world today. It is sad because of Obama administration abusing his power. When the American people asking their government to pay attention for domestic problem? Why they spend money for no result? Look the IMF and WB will throw 11 billion dollars to the ocean in the name of helping for Ukraine hooligan government. To get what? Nothing! Is African countries receive this amounts of money for the last 10 years from America? double standard!

Is this really breaking news !? Yes the imprisonment of any innocent is a concern but is it the first time the brutal regime showed his cruel face to our people. So what is ‘breaking’ about these? There is though some other news that was worth reporting as breaking news, which, in your usual PRO TPLF stance, choose to ignore: the clash between TPLF forces and Students in various cities in the “Oromia” region. You were in the forefront of Jowhar’s ‘don’t drink Bedele’ and the ‘boycott’ Teddy Afro’s saga….We told you it was irresponsible of you in fanning such inflamatory rehetric and we also told you that this will not end there. It is the same people who are now challenging the regime you love so much. Just as they ‘succeeded’ in the ‘boycott’ saga they will now force your government to back track on its ‘Master Plan’ agenda. And for sure they will succeed…but mark our word that will not be the end of their demand….The question for you is will you continue to report these developments as they happen (as your did with The concert) or ignore such major events that will affect the country, as if they had not happened at all.

Recently, you came up with the word “we value impartiality” However, observering your Web, you are quick to post any negative comments on Ethiopan government, or you twist the headline such as this. Kerry said different things surrounding his visit and his main visit was not to ask the release of some suspects. Ethiopia is a sovereign nation with its own law.And you are expected America, A nation with highest number of prisoners, mostly minority, executing innocents and NSA is spying the whole American Citizen and the world, yet you and your other “impartial journalist” expect Kerry to dictate on Ethiopia. I guess your experience didn’t take you far, and We don’t have impartial journalists, only “activists” and propagandist.

Syria got nothing on the hell the backward Wolaita warlords adminstrations are driving Ethiopia towards. Syria and Derg’s red terror combined will not be as terrifying as the revolution which exploded at higher education institutes throughout Ethiopia currently. This generation is highly unlikely to run away exposing Ethiopia to be ruled by warlords as the young scholars did four decades ago.

Ethiopia isn’t going to a civil war, but industrialization! It has already passed through 17 years of civil war , therefore , the people already know what a civil war means! Don’t forget that , though poor, Ethiopians are a regal people who don’t rush to destruction! Ethiopia proved to her enemies that she isn’t Egypt,Syria or Libya! It’s been 14 years since her enemies predict its disintegration, but they don’t know that Ethiopia is different!

You can wish for Ethiopia’s destruction , nevertheless , it won’t happen !

With regard to the so called the few university students in oromia region, they are pushing the impossible mission, making Addis Ababa one wereda of oromo. They were carrying that slogan
As everybody knows more than 90% of the country’s economy and investment is located in addis (not finfine). This has happened for more than 120 years. This accomulated wealth is a common property of all Ethiopian people. It does not belong up selfish narrow-minded few. Making addis one wereda of promos is an impossible mission. Period. Ethiopia must be governed by Ethiopians for Ethiopia to serve Ethiopians. Any organization government or none government from within or abroad which expects and takes orders from a foreign country and meddle in Ethiopian affair is enemy of Ethiopia and its people. —
during the Fascist Italian invasion of Ethiopia. The vatican blessed the fascist army as a messengers of good work. Now in this 21st century Amnesty International doing the job of evil on Ethiopia and blessed any self appointed traitor so called bloggers led by their western based anti ethiopian political leaders.

If we have any sense of responsibility as an Ethiopian, we have to save our country from an arrogant western leaders bullshit talk of democracy and puppet negro US congress men and women who should fight extreme racism African Americans face daily in their own country, they should free themselves from the chain of false democracy even the supposedly rich basket ball players seen by their masters.

Ethiopia must tell western leaders to tell amnesty dogs to take all traitor anti Ethiopia stooge bloggers out of Ethiopia. Keeping them in prison is wast of hard earned revenue. If they are involved in criminal activity they must face chines oriented justice.

How much distriction one Abate sixotash can create and get away with it is soooo amazing. Oromo Defending the constitution are dying for it and Tigre are being blamed for it. Call it knocking two birds with one stone.
    —–
If I was general samora, I would lock this dude up and question how he was emboldened to a) violet the constitution b) insult and intimidate Oromo representatives and the Oromo by extension. C) congradulate the oromo for defending thr constitution.
Otherwise, the emboldening network might put him in jail and tear the
Constitution very soon. If a vice mayor has the right to re-write an item that is not even a point of discussion then their has to be a power that facilitates it. It is either the military or the
Security. In any case the Oromo students are not the criminals but those neo-Minilikist ex ehapa like sixotash abate.

If anyone need to actively pressure the USA government right now it should be the businessmen who are loosing all their business to the few corrupt conglomerates monopoly. Addis360 blogspot lists countless firms that represent USA businesses in Ethiopia. These people with chamber of commerce can make a diffrernce in the human right situations in Ethiopia.

Nevertheless , they all lost & disappeared with their tails in between their legs! They didn’t even had the courage to stay together after their defeat!
