Ethiopia: Government accuses Semayawi party of disturbing an anti-ISIL rally in Addis Ababa (+Video)
Awramba Times (Addis Ababa) – The government of Ethiopia on Wednesday accused the opposition Semayawi party of disturbing a government-sponsored rally, held to condemn the recent execution of Ethiopian Christians by the ultra-violent terror group, ISIL in Libya.
Redwan Hussien, minister of Ethiopia’s government communication office, said that, more than hundred thousand Ethiopians have marched peacefully to condemn terrorism and show solidarity with the families of the victims, regardless of their religious background.
Redwan also added that some protestors who had a hidden political agenda have prompting clashes with the police to divert the good cause of the march and more than seven police officers have seriously injured.
“Semayawi has never considered ISIL as a terror group in its statements so far” Redwan said at a press conference in the capital Addis Ababa today. “It is indeed an immoral ambition for any political group to build a cheap political capital at the expense of innocent victims and their loved ones” he added.
