Hundreds of Tigreans Evicted from Amhara Region Arrive in Gedaref, Sudanes official confirmed
Most of the evictees are children elderly and women, including pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Awramba Times (Addis Ababa) – Morethan 400 Tigreans have arrived in the eastern state of Gedaref, following the mass eviction by the Amhara regional state officials, the Sudanese Commission of Refugees (SCR) confirmed to Sudan Tribune (ST).
Sudan’s commissioner of refugees Hamad al-Gizouli told ST that, the victims of the eviction have entered Sudan through Gallabat and Metemma border crossing points between the two countries.
The Sudanes official expected that further influx of evictees would arrive in Sudan during the next days, saying among the 400, there were 181 children and 100 women including pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Al-Gizouli added they have agreed with the UNHCR and UNICEF to provide the compatriots with ready-made meals and medical assistance.
