Music guide to Ethiopia
Musician and producer Dan Harper has been signed by the Rough Guide World Music Network series aimed at introducing music lovers to the music of Ethiopia.
Mr Harper runs the recording studios at Writhlington School working with local musicians and bands.
Released under the name Invisible System, his albums are the result of a love of the African country where he once worked.
The new album Introducing Invisible System is a selection of tracks from his acclaimed three previous albums Punt, Street Clan and The Cauldron and has been released as a bonus record alongside the new Rough Guide to Ethiopia.
It is a musical journey which moved from traditional Ethiopian music to post-punk, to jazz-funk and back, and brings together a collaboration of artists from Ethiopia and Europe.
Mr Harper, who left Ethiopia in 2006, said the tracks on the album will open up the music of a fascinating country to more people.
He added: “People are now beginning to travel to the country and see how wonderful it is. It has come a long way from its famine days in 1980s and is now a very lush country.”
