Everyone must be wondering what is happening @ TPLF . Tesfaye Gebreab has predicted/advised that Demeke Mekonin be the deputy. This guy knows his ex bosses. …hummmmm..looking forward to see how they will play the remaining games.

  2. betti says:

Unbelievable! NO TPLF! IS IT REALLY TRUE! HOW ON EARTH TPLF LET POWER SLIP AWAY FROM THEM. THERE MUST BE SOMETHING GOING ON. HOW WILL PM & DEPUTY PM WILL BE ABLE TO ORDER THE TPLF GENERALS.

    • eri tertari says:

May be president germa will be a victim soon then the president will be agame dictator this is game

      • Anbessa says:

        Eri Terati:
I thought you knew that here, the position of the president is only ceremonial. It is not like your God forsaken nation where every power is in the hands of single Agame-born dictator. Just wondering, what will happen to your Italian molded asses if your big man dies. Woyane proved it meant what it said.

  3. Dereje says:

Well, for a long time now we have been telling you folks in diaspora that Ehiopia has changed and changed for ever!!!
Get with the program of your able contribution to advance your country and not tearing it down.

  4. Toothless Dog says:

You man Ethiopia has moved many steps after you has left to the hell. How can you under estimate Ethiopians. you are really a son of Bitch!! Don`t hate you origin, it is Ethiopians who are governing why you blame TPLF, the reallity for the inocence of TPLF is coming starting the death of our beloved Leader, but his base is still witnessing how strong man he was!!!

  5. Olorro says:

This should show how much the opposition’s speculation and judgement of EPRDF is so flawed. You guys need to reconsile with the truth for your own sake!

  6. kkkkkkk says:

But be aware that there is a rule, those elected guys were not participated during the armed struggle, so becoming a leader doesn`t mean manuplating every thing as he/she wish, every one is expecting to act based on the rule of law, and professional ethics. So don`t expect H/mariam to …every one, village….just as you IDiots think!!!

  7. Ethio says:

Great news to Ethiopia!! I hope that HM will work hard for the unity of ethiopians…

    Long live Ethiopia and Ethiopianism

  8. Seyoum says:

well…get back to work !!! it is over

  9. Chombe says:

What a joke?! Out of 3 candidates, DH was elected unanimously. The other 2 candidate could not even get a single vote, not even from the person nominated for candidacy? It will interesting to see the slow power struggle within woyane. TPLF will hang on to the military and security, the rest will be a puppet playing on the soft power. All what TPLF needs to do is sit on the military power and tell the rest what to do to benefit the EFORT companies. Who cares about the soft power.

  10. Serawitie ( says:

We should have known how this will turn out when they promoted about 37 Tigrean colonels to generals. That move definetely strengthens TPLFs hold on the country and as a compromise they are now letting Desalegn and Demeke (the 2Ds) take the PM and the DPM respectively.

Power still rests with the people who control the security and the military. TPLF has that control.

    • Anbessa says:

…so what? You just made a statement, not an argument. Besides, your claim that “all the 37 generals are Tigrians” is a horrendous lie. Go though the following list, you can now have a more implausible excuse to your lies. (BTW Dergues Tesfaye
Gebrekidan, and Fisseha Desta were also Woyanes. Well for you and ESAT guys, at least)

Don’t you think it is time to exploit this window of opportunity to the best benefit of our country. Let us give HM a chance to lead the country. It is not the time to be a stumbling block for someone who had never been in armed struggle with others but in academics and administration.Let us stop throwing out pessimistic ideas, rather suggest the way forward to include all Ethiopians in building the country. Enough! Let us learn a lesson from South Africa of 1994.

  12. Azmatch says:

It is histry in the making. For the first time in Ethiopian history we wittnesed a peaceful transition of power. We are proud of thelate PM Meles for laying the foundation and EPRDF for staying the course.

  13. Ethiopia says:

This is the result of Melese effort to avoid Tigrians’ from power.Let me put Melese words ” ticket segebege Tigris” (very few selfish Tigre) after the split of TPLF. He did his best to avoid many prominent Tigire’s.To mention some of them ( Seyoum Mesfin,Arkeb Equbye,Abye Tsehaye, and etc).I thank Melese for his work but he was loyal to his friend Berket Semon.Berket is’t a proud Ethiopian. He is now the leader of our country. These EPRDF leaders are not politician and gorella fighter .But,they are much better professional than Breket.Ethiopia will have good chance to have better future interms of democracy, development, and human right.
May God bless our beloved country Ethiopia.

  14. dorch says:

I had no doubt that this would happen as TPLF had no any possible/easy options left.In fact, the two figures are Historic as well as symbolic!!Nevertheless, they will have significantly limited decision making role.

Good job TPLF, you are as clever as you have ever been.

  15. Asaye says:

Awramba times need to work on their language. It is EPRDF, not Bereket, who confirmed the appointment!!

  16. Demeke Taye says:

It will be interesting to know who competed against Ato Hailemariam, and Ato Demeke. From the short video released to the public, one could see that TPLF members, particularly, the big ones, were talking one after another. I do not know whether they were talking against or for, but Ato Abay Tsehay, Ato Seyoum Mesfin, Ato Arkebe, Azieb Mesfin and Ato Berhane were talking.
I suggest that the opposition should give hpneymoon for a while and see what they are and can do. We know a little about Ato Hailemariam but very little about Ato Demeke.
The opposition should focus, at least for a short while, on having the prisoners released, the terror law changed, freedom of the press, the rule of law and other issues like them.

  17. Goodjob Bereket says:

Good job Bereket Simon, this is ur game. i tell u, u did it. Thats what i call mind game. keep the under control.

  18. Tekle says:

Some of you doorknobs are rejoicing over this appointment for the wrong reasons. You think members of the ruling council who are from Tigray are shunned by other members. As always you should eat your words. And do not forget the formula I gave you a million times before. That is:

    17yrs of struggle X 25 = 425 years
    425 X 2 = 850 years.
850 rounded up to the nearest thousandth = 1,000 years. So we have 979 years left on our contract. If you don’t like it, then we are ready to say adios any time soon. I know a lot of you are illiterate and can’t read. So find someone to read it for you – Article 39. One word out of you, you can say Hasta la vista baby!!!

    • betti says:

@Tekle, Why u write here if u think we can’t read it. According to your calculations tigre must rule ethiopia for 1000 yrs, otherwise you go independent.
This is what your moron TPLF cardres like Abay tell you. This is 21st century and the world is changing very fast and Ethipa also changes accordingly. The rest of ethioopia is better off without tigray. Go separate tigy from ethiopia and you will go hungry within 3 months. Tigray is a parasite to the rest of Ethiopia. The reason why you have not tried article 39, is because tigre will be sandwitched from north by the gallant Eriterians, and by the heroic amharas from the south.

    • betti says:

“850 rounded up to the nearest thousandth = 1,000 years.” Is that how your TPLF caders taught you math? thousandth is not thousand. Go back to school, still there is place for idiots like you.

      • Tekle says:

I was talking to you in terms of reciprocals. The result was 850,000 but I decided to show you the first 1,000 only. Have you ever heard reciprocals or has some one ever during your school dayz explained it to you. Now you know it. Memorize it and live it. It is a vow that is etched in stone with sweat and blood that we shed for more than 17 years to liberate you. And we did. The new Prime Minister Haile Mariam understands the Glorious Axumite people and profusely grateful for what we have done for him and his people. As far as I am concerned he is our adapted son surrounded by the abundance of Axumite ingenuity. Not to worry!!! So keep quiet and watch us as we thrust the country forward as we have been doing for the last 21 years. The GDP Per Capita(Purchasing) is now at $3,500 and it will definitely rose to $10,000 by 2015-17. So like I told you just sit tight and watch us pros do the job!!!!!

        • Fitihawi says:

I agree with your impeacable analysis brother. They should lead the country for the next 100 years for they are proved to be the best leaders in the history of Ethiopia.Much credit must be given to the visionary leader and his leadership skills.

    • mela says:

Power and authority is a way to serve people not looting and oppression. If EPRDF or TPLF is willing to serve others is good to retain the power for 1000 years. The fact is clear no one will loose his life to live with you unless you are willing to live with us. Nefsun yimarewina “Mengedun Cherk yarlih” Yalewin sew astawis.

  19. Mass says:

I think f or the first time now we should give credit for TPLF for sharing power to others. We thank them first for their fight with derge and now for peaceful transfer of power surprised all of us.

EPRDF is changing its power structure in peaceful way. It is a great day for Ethiopia and Ethiopianism.

  22. HailAddis says:

    Hi Tekle,
I completely agree with you! TPLF deserves to lead a thausandth year or why not more? It has led 17 gruesome years unlike any other to liberate us from dictator Mengistu, many patriotic Tigrians has sacrificed their lifes for the freedom that is given to us today. You know what Tekle, why don’t you, and your tplf shauve your freedom up you azz and leave Ethiopian people alone. If it wasn’t for the patience of your Ethiopian Amhara and Oromo friends, you wouldn’t even lasted a single day.
We’re coming for you cunning bastards.

    • Tekle says:

      HailAddis:

You are a perfect carbon copy of some of these so-called opposition groups. Your use of language is unpolished and so rude. Just like them you use insults even though you have never engaged me in conversation. Just like them you started the political discourse with name calling instead of methodically dealing with my opinion. But I know why? Because you just hate people like me for who we are as a people. You hate me because you are inflicted with this deep-seated hatred for the people of Tigray. The only ‘crime’ we committed against you was and is liberating you from the blood thirsty regime of Mengistu Haile Mariam. I still carry a fragment in one of my ribs from injuries I sustained during one of those heroic battles we waged against the then largest army in Africa. If I were A Shewan Amhara, you would not do this to me, that you would not hate me even though you don’t know me. And all of guys are ganging up on me because of not what I said but because of who I am. You are a bunch of bigots. May God Save You!!!!

      • Ethiopiawi (truly) says:

Ethiopia is changing for good whether people like it or not. The wisdom of one of the greatest leaders Africa ever known will be felt for a long time to come – well beyond the Ethiopian borders. The time for undermining other ethnic groups is well overdue. Ridiculous event to contemplate excluding the unbreakable connection to the Queen of Sheba and one of the four greatest ancient empires – the Axumawit Kingdom! Be proud (truly than selectively) of your bloodline whichever part of Ethiopia you come from rather than insulting your own history in an outdated fashion. It’s a sign of maturity to give, take and share. Irrelevant which ethnic group any Ethiopian leader belongs to so long as the organization behind the leader has core values and principle. Not a coincidence to witness a smooth transfer of power for the first time in the history of the country. Look at the big picture – Ethiopia’s destiny is to lead Africa on the path to progress. Thanks Meles and may all future African leaders learn from your vision and wisdom.

  23. Yonas Michael Gebrewubet says:

I am happy that the succession has now been finalised. I wish the top officials very productive years while they are in power. I happen to meet both of them in various occasions. They are outspoken and frank on their approach to problem solving.

  24. Bertukan says:

The big need of Ethiopia right now is need not only a new driver (Prime Minster), but a new organization that has the authority of giving out driving licenses (ruling party).

It might not matter who is in power in Ethiopia will grijen The TPLF Eritrease wing or wing Tigijnse, or Oromo and Amhara …, the white rich that no power will have to recognize that the border with Eritrea ready and sourced must be , then Ethioia live in peace.
The question is, Is bademe worth Tigrayn the power to get rid of Ethiopia in turmoil to continue with 90 milloen people?

  28. belay says:

TPLF is daing slowly. Most of TPLF members during the 90s are out of the game…PM Meles, Siyum mesfine, Siye abraha, Gebru asrat, Aregash, major General hayelom, major general tsadqan, aboy sibhat, Kinfe, more than 500 military personals and others. The few old TPLF members and generals will replaced within the next 2-3 years by the new generals appointed last week.

  29. Tatek says:

We have to still wait and see if Hailemariam will be allowed to have the same imperial powers played by colonel Zenawi. I am assuming his powers will gradully be siginificantly weakened and his role become a ceremonial one subordinated to the TPLF inner circle. Frustrations among TPLF top brass who looked so insecure as a woman whose husband works in close proximity with gorgeous women is already so visible to see. They may feel ok for now as long as the Premier didn’t come from OPDO or ANDM, something they might have been desperately working to avoid at any cost, but their vulnerability after the demise of tyrant Zenawi is transparently clear. I hope the TPLF dies so soon with Zenawi and the country gets a chance to become a free nation.

  30. ddd says:

God had given his verdict. This verdict will save all Ethiopians not to shade blood any more. We should be magnanimous and protect the right of others to speak their opinion.
The new premiers should be wise to handle dangerous issues to manage their administration. They should prepare their strategic plan to remove all the shackles step by step. The TPLF junta has collected all the powers to manage security, police, court , finance, religious … Issues so that it can control the Government without problem . If these two premiers are wise they can replace all the obstacles by stages .
We pray that God give you the wisdom and patience for this .
    Amen

Sirotu yetatekut sirotu yifetal as Ethiopian folk lore says it. We are not celebrating if it’s not fundamental structural change of power, both in the military government body not only the PM and DPM but both economic afair, military, foreign minister, civic…education minister. Nothing has changed. We are not to be taken as fools.

It is good point of succession. In the near future we may able to avoid ethnic politics (divide/rule) and political freedom. In the other hand TPLF may change the regime in to military gunta; both defense and security must respect HM and the people to or HM must organize and built his control like Meles did.

  37. aghere says:

    YIMESLEGNAL EGEMITALEHU

These are the majic words of so called Ethiopian intellectuals, who are analysing the political weather of Ethiopia.

Yimeslegnal is the one which we hear repeatedly these days.Well WOYANE has no vocabulary that define and use YIMESLEGNAL.They have told to the peolple of Ethiopia the guide line for ruling the country. The formula of late Melese Zenawi is the rule to the day in Ethiopia. It is demonstrated with the promotion of most generals from one ethnic. They have said what the late Prime Minister was propagating all his life. There is no YIMESLEGNAL in the WOYANE mind-set.I really appreciate them for they are not telling you indirectly but clearly and show you practically. The herd is every time going with YIMESLEGNAL.Please ,herd,What did you get which seems to you right in the WOYANE mind-set?They have told the herd that the formula is already set and will be applied in the future. You will remain with your YIMESLEGNAL and beg freedom from the WOYANE.You will not get it unless and otherwise you have your own saying. It is not without rational formula Hailemariam Desalegni is picked by Melese? He is faithful and good errand boy who could listen to his bosses and accomplish his assignment. He will remain faithful even for the ghost of MELESE ZENAWI.

EGEMITALEHU is again meaningless word for the WOYANE.You can imagine, speculate, devise or dream but you will not reach to the formula of WOYANE.WOYANE has devised the programme before it controlled Ethiopia and we have seen it being applied before our own eyes.

Eritrea has gone. The Ethiopian army dismantled and the new one ethnic army that protects its own interest is installed. The land of Ethiopia is freely given to the Sudan. The fertile land of Ethiopia is given to the so called investors.1o,ooo tone of Ethiopian coffee robbed and unaccounted. The late Prime Minister has witnessed that even his hand is in it and no need to dig the issue to find out the responsible individuals before the law. Many Ethiopians are in prisons all over the land and some have disappeared for ever.etc.

What do you imagine the herd? When 17 Ogaden people were excuted by WOYANE junta even after the death of Melese, what do you imagine?Do you have formula to decipher the formula of WOYANE instead of speculating ?

You have the right to speculate. You have the right to imagine. You have the right to dream but you will not get a change in the mind-set of WOYANE.Woyane has said, even if we lose our great leader,we have millions of Meleses among us.Melese, with his ghost in the body of millions, will live and rule you.Even Hailemariam Desalegn has the spirit of Melese and will live speaking the same as the late Melese. The only difference is Melese speaks Tigrigna and Hailemariam Desalegn speaks Wolaytigna. The rest is the same and Woyanes’s formula which was crafted in DEDEBIT will be the rule of the day in Ethiopia.

    YIMSELIH GEMIT ENDENAFEKEH TINORALEH

  38. Oromo says:

The transfer of power back and forth between to oppressors ( Ahmaras and Tigres) can not bring a permanent solution to the region and it better to call more comprehensive changes the could bring win-win solution. The empire was not created twenty one years ago. According to your ( Abyssinians )calculation, it was 3000 years ago and the rest of Kush nations ( Oromo, Somali, Sidamas, Afar and others) have be forced after1880s by Amharas colonizers. Amhara have created this country in their own image and want to keep everyone else as foster child. Abyssinians are less than 30 % percent of the population continue dreaming to dominate the vast majority through the barrels of GUN in 21st century , this can lead to total distraction. If the 70% of the population can not rule it self or a right to self determination, they can hold this empire hostage from any meaningful progress for generations to come. Majority of the issue was created and left to a Tigreans by repressive Amhara regimes. NOW what make me surprise is when most of you celebrate as if the struggle have achieved it goals, it’s the beginning. This trends can engulf the whole country to civil war unless we divorce peacefully.

  39. HailAddis says:

    Dear Tekle
Now you showed that you have a big heart for opennig up and sharing your story. And i admire you for picking up a gun and facing Mengistu cause you felt oppressed. See, you and me are not that different as you like to imagine it to be. Me and most of Ethiopians now feel left out, segregated, betrayed even oppressed and killed almost like Mengistu’s time. Dear Tekle, sorry if i touched your wounds and irritated you, but it was only to show you that we also feel wounded by EPRDF. For a change, please be a man like you always knew as you were in the fight with Derg and read some of the Human Rights violation track records of former prime minister Meles Zenawi and consider our plight for freedom. However, you wrote in manner that is not expected from a learned individual, let alone a once freedom fighter, so i answered accordingly – with irritation. Dear Tekle, you have to respect other nationalities and feel other people wounds too so we can be friends and not enemies. If you would like to know I have many Tigre friends, but after i read your comment i felt really embaressed even to call them. So please becareful when using such ethnic cliches.
    Your Friend
    Hailu

    HailAddis:

If you don’t hate me because I am from Tigray, then that is allright by me. Then right on and let’s move on. That means you are not a Shewan Amhara. Because they don’t like people like me. I was told by my very trusted friends about their deep-seated hatred of people like me not because for something we may have done to them(there has been none) but just because who we are. If I ever have the chance of meeting a not-hostile Shewan Amhara now or any time in the future, I will ask him the question why his people hates us.

Again, if you don’t hate me, then welcome my friend. But that has to genuine.

  41. Tekle says:

But that has to be genuine.
