Ok, it maybe true that democracy is a necesity in Ethiopia.
But why is head of the sugar factories the right person to speak about democracy?
    Just wondering:-)

By the way, Meles used to say this same thing so what’s new now to be a news?

    • Ketema says:

      @AleQa Biru

when you find nothing wrong with the message, you start attacking the messanger. This is the difference of between TEKEYAMI and TEKAWAMI. Your contribution to the betterment of Ethiopia thus zero.
Go Ethiopia, develope and build Ethiopian style democracy that will work, instead of cheep import. That is why we are Ethiopian unique in our way, not because we copied but developed our own systems.

      • Sisay A says:

I Would like to ask formally the american gov. to bring democracy to ethiopia with military interference just like Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya.
The west will die for ethiopian to get democracy. America shows how democrat can achieve by showing the world you can prison some one more than 10 years in quantamo or if people complain about that use Drone and kill them where ever they are why you waste lawyer money to them.
It seems the eth. opposition in diaspora seems learn a lot from america how to put first your interest that the people question.

As the us didn’t care about the people but only for there interest as they did now in egypt, saudi, and on most muslim countries and even in ethiopia.
The diaspora opposition only care and wish bad to happen in Ethiopia then they can collect money using that.

This is how i call it adapting democracy from the west.

      • ETHIO says:

        @ketema

Yes we are sad(tekeyimenal) and we have enough reason for that.

Melles said it 20 years a go and he compare democracy and human right with bed time history at 2012.

        Sibhat called Ethiopian’s (yakorefu)
yes we are sad. and we will never vote for tplf and this is our right.

Abay tsehaye is the racist person we have in Ethiopia and he will never change.we will never trust and work with tplf to build democracy.we will start democracy after tplf overthrown.

        Democracy never build by racist.

There will be freedom I am sure.

        • ኢትዮጵያ ትቅደም says:

I am realy say for you cause you are a real child who never grows up may be you though democracy is some thing that should be distrubited to the people by going each and every house is that what you think democracy is? for the mater of fact there is democracy in ethiopia than in any other country in this world go to the arab world go to US go to Uk or asia do you get the democracy you get in ethiopia not at all
every one can write speak or make demonstration.lets compare event by event.
          1) there was demonstration in UK last month oposing the G8 submit and arrests were made for the peaceful demonstration
          – while in ethiopia extrimists are demonstrating requesting the gov. to step down and had the power to the extrimists and yet are tolerated
          2) there was a man called snowden who was former us intelegence contractor he leaked the truth about the CIA that they are spying on US citizens, and he is been chased till now
          – while in ethiopia every body is speaking even lies with out evidence and are tolerated so far had ethiopia taken the same no oposition party would be i nethiopia as all the oposition parties are liers and distrubitors of rumors with out any prove.

so in conclution we can say ethiopia is the only country with real democracy in this 21 century if it keeps like this after may be 5 years americans may come to ask assylum in ethiopia for being prosecuted by their government for speaking the truth .

          • ETHIO says:

            @ethiopia tikdem

read your own comment and you will find out who is a child have never grow up. you really don’t know what you are talking about.

This is my opinion, and the truth in Ethiopia.

      • AleQa Biru says:

        Gash Ketema hode,

There was no attack in my comment at all; only questions. If you could answer my questions, that would help. Thank you.

      • asteway says:

        Ketema,

I had the same question as @AleQua Biru. Yes, why is that the Director of a Sugar Corporation has to be the one to speak on this subject? In addition, Tsehaye Abaye does not qualify to speak on such issues since we have seen how undemocratic his actions were in dealing with the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. He prevented the two Ethiopian Orthodox Church Synods from reconciling their differences. Having him as a speaker on democratic issues is one of those jokes by the TPLF regime. I am sure those attending the training are grappling with the same question.

    • degefa says:

      Dawit you must be kidding!

Are you serious when you post Abay Tsehaye is talking about Democracy?—can we expect apple fruit from tree of thorny Acacia?

Look! As you are repeatedly hearing from their own friend (financial officer), Abay Tsehaye is one of the remember of the dangerous circle who has targeted one ethnic group, their religion, and really killed hundreds of thousand, facilitate burning of hundreds of Christian churches, then back to his won group and eat pro Ethiopia people like Hayelom, Seye, Birtukan—-many others!

Worked hard and day and night, to make Ethiopia land locked! If not funny, and jock how the this man can talk about democracy?

dawit let ask you simple question?

Are you anti-democracy? or were you anti-government or the Constitution? if you didnot, why you were evacuated from your country? answer this?

If this people are serious about democracy what was your mistake? tell me and i will believe you then?

What bad things have you made except reporting truths to your people with the then our AWRAMBA?

Then, what makes you believe Abay is now talking about democracy?

Please donot try to confuse your web attendants dawit, post for us something that worth!

I was trained by Abay several times, and once he gathered you to the meeting hole, he will tell you that, if you donot be in line with the government policy as civil servant—belimalimo makuwaret techelalacehu….that was what i heard from him in those days? I am sure they might also call us soon and this time may be Shiferaw going to kid us!

Thank you for posting my opinion! Though you are disappointing me in various way, such as posting the current post, i remain the reader of Awramba. I believe in diversity of opinions!

      • Mario says:

        Degefa

Of course, you don’t have any moral ground to criticize the man who stood his ground for his motherland , when every revolutionary was abandoning Ethiopia or captured & killed at the spot!

Remember: this man is one of these who stood courageously during the bad times of Ethiopia & saved it from its ultimate disintegration!

You have no idea & you can’t understand that Mr Abay is more democratic than you! I know you don’t belong here in the Ethiopian cyber space, but go on & waste your time!

Dawit is a journalist & he feeds us with a diversified information so we can know! You are used to one sided hate propaganda, therefore , your brain is blocked with a hate! You can’t think properly!

Mr Abay is now building Ethiopia together with the nations, nationalities & peoples of Ethiopia! All you can do is hate hate hate…& hate can only consume you inside out!

Take it easy & use your natural senses that God has given you properly so you can comprehend like a human being!

Remember:every entity that bragged to destroy the TPLFites had been buried in a grave prepared for the TPLFites! This guy is one of these men of our century who stood in front of the 21st warfare technology & emerged victorious in the burning fire!

    • Awetash says:

Abay had been a student activist during his years at Haile Selassie University (now Addis Ababa University) in the early 1970s, being a member of the Tigrayan University Students’ Association. According to Aregawi Berhe, he was one of seven students who met on 14 September 1974 at an inconspicuous cafe in the Piazza district to create the Tigrayan Peoples’ Liberation Front. Abay was selected to be one of the first group to be given military training by the Eritrean People’s Liberation Front, arriving in Asmara, January 1975.With Meles Zenawi and Sibhat Nega, Abay was one of founders of the Marxist-Leninist League of Tigray in July, 1985.

Following the end of the Ethiopian Civil War, Abay became one of the richest corrupt people by slowing transitioning from the county’s politicians to a feudal money monger businessman leaving the work of politics to puppet hodams. Abay Tsehaye is talking about democracy because he is concentrating on his role to the liberation front as he is an executive member of the Central Committee of the Tigrayan Peoples’ Liberation Front ..

  4. teshome says:

I came to a conclusion that Africans are not enlighten societies to exercise democracy. It seems that the concept of democracy is new for Africans and Africans had been having enormous difficulties in practicing democracy
Look what is happening in post Arab spring in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia. Well, we can say Hundreds and thousands of people were killed during Arab spring and one might argue there is always to pay for democracy and this is a minimum cost paid. Okay. But after a democratic election and having a constitution, why are all these bloody civil war…
Being an African is always a problem, whenever and what ever election is coming, peoples’ life are always to be sacrifices. We saw this almost in each and every African countries.
Election in Africa always brings sectarian polarizations, If Egypt had such bad experience, I can imagine what would happen in Ethiopian case.
If we are honest to ourselves let’s answer this question?
Is Egypt benefit from Arab spring?..

So I completely disagree with Abay Tsehaye, Democracy in Ethiopia is always an option. I say the sever economic hardship of Africans should be answered first. But a hypocrite argument democracy comes first doesn’t help any African countries .
Africa should follow Chinese model of Economic development, I don’t see the importance of democracy any time soon in Africa because the negative of exercising democracy is damaging Africa beyond repair.

    • yared says:

      Teshome,

      you are a genuine idiot!

here are the list of the African countries who have now living in a peaceful democratic society…yematakewun zembeleh ateleflef, dengay ras:

      1- Burkinafaso
      2- Ghana
3- Swaziland (Kingship that is working and very peaceful!)
4- Mozambique ( a type of Monarchy but mixed with a parliamentary regime)
      5- South Africa
      6- Namibia
      7- Botswana…

probably my list is from the top of my head…am missing some! so do not align your chicken head with the dictators like Gadafi, Mubarak , meles evil(21 years, what do you call that?? ) etc

      WOI !

    • teshare says:

Mr. teshome, You must enjoy the poor logic you spout on this site day in day out. Actually, what you said above is beyond poor and it’s contradictory. In your tortured logic people dying to assert their democratic rights in a nascent emocracy is a sign of Africans not being able to comprehend the same. Therefore, you continue, we should save the people from themselves by curtailing democracy. That is like stealing a kid’s candy telling him/her that it kaka! Mr. Teshome, go find your fool somewhere else because we are not 2 year olds here.

    • lema says:

How would you think if you were not a cadre (or player) of TPLF? I think, he (Abay) must be commended if he speaks his brain even though unnecessary time has elapsed.

As to the Egyptian Arab Spring, there is no issue with the population. They have been demanding for democracy. Yes, they had elected one democratically – Mr. Mursi. But they were courageous to oust him as he was showing a tendency like TPLF to become authoritarian. The majority has sensed that and root him out before he causes mach damages.

Anther aspect you cannot compare Ethiopia with Egypt is cultural differences. Arab People are very emotional and violent where as Ethiopians are very respectful, tolerant, and patient people. To say that Ethiopians are much more civilized. Local populations in any corner of Ethiopia have better understanding and capacity of conflict resolution, if any, than what’s being witnessed in the system you are die-hardly defending.

You seem to have passed through regular education systems based on your writing style. Means, you may not be in shortage of understanding what is good and what is bad. Unfortunately, as the saying goes, “those who pretend sleeping are the ones difficult to wake them up ” / “Awko YeTegnan BikeseKisut Aysemam”.

After all, all pretexts not to do something for good are excellent instruments of lazy and selfish people.

    • Mario says:

      Teshome

You are right broda! Economic necessity comes first, then the economic fulfillment will create favorable condition for democratic principles to flourish!

We can see South Korea’s, Singapore’s Taiwan’s march to democracy with huge support of the USA! Everyone in these countries had worked hand & glove in the 1970s & 80s…!

The EPRDFites are very good for Ethiopia for now! They are about to accomplish the GTP plan one….& now planning the second phase the GTP PLAN!

What Ethiopia is missing is a good opposition! An opposition that works together for the long term interest of Ethiopia! Ethiopia is a poor country! The bad & empty opposition are coasting Ethiopia so much, therefore , Ethiopia is crying for good opposition at this moment!

Anyways Ato Abay Tsegaye is right to say democracy is an option! Therefore let’s teach ourselves & be democrat!

      • Helen says:

        Mario,
You are back to your dictatorial nature! Who are you after all? Who gave you (God) to lead the country? You really upset me!

Ethiopia is common to all us all! Stop your backward uncivilized lecture otherwise!

        • Mario says:

Helen, take easy! Do you understand what free speech means? Thanks to Dawit, now we have a web sight that can serve us equally!

Ms Helen , let me ask you… do you have anybody better than the EPRDF? Mention by a name! Ethiopia is crying for good opposition, so to balance it’s politics! For every action there is an equal & opposit reaction! Your fragile empty opposition can’t even compared to the scraps of the EPRDFites shoes! You know that too, don’t you?

    • Romeo says:

One would be tempted to respond in kind to such a racist statement as, “Africans are not enlighten societies to exercise democracy.” MInd you, had the statement said human beings, it would have been taken as a philosophical discourse. Rather, it’s the African the statement singles out. Amazingly, the satement is not coming from racist western intellectual, but from a degenerate African. One wonders, what is the motive, even for a degenertae, to make such a statement? Even better, one should wonder, if the African is not good enough for democracy ( or vice-versal), what is his/her alternative? This is when the true motive of such blatant statement becomes obvious. The African only alternative is Oligarchy. That is power is held by one person or a family or a group of thugs (party thugs). Sounds familiar? There it is – the true motive. A degeneertae belittling his own race for an opportunity of thuggery. Absolute shame befitting a true degenerate ( one without physical, mental and moral qualities considered normal).

    • Mike1 says:

Teshome, you focused too much on the failed states and those that are trying to figure it out after coming out from long dectatorship. Just take time to read learn about some of the successful democracies in Africa like Ghana, Tanzania, South Africa even our neighbor Kenya. I hope you will learn something and then be able to teach us why ours will or won’t work. I hope too that you will never use borrowed terms like …Africans are not enlighten societies … please …
      Mike

    at Teshome
sir i always wonder your mind! Do you think Egypt is poor, so that the back lash of the free election come from poverty? i think you still have gap of feeding your family or struggle. That is why always food dominate your thinking. Sir freedom of expression shouldn’t be displaced by food or money. Look this millions yours of sayings…yetenagerut kemitefa yeweledut yetefa—ewneten tenagero yemeshebet mader—

Beleteh lemeitaraw neger netsanetehen melewet yehidanet new.

Indeed, if you donot take care even in America, democracy may end up in chaos. Democracy need people to lead it! If you manage it democracy will take you to the direction you want to take your people.

Please forget your one to one association of Ethiopia to the arab countries. Ethiopia is different, we were free, freedom is not something new to us. Yezaren ayaderegewena—zarema afen moleto menager berek heneben. Edeme le Abay tsehayene wendemochu!

When you write , I’m noticing about who you are! But what you don’t know is; there is no solution for you anywhere in the cyber space! Once you abandon your own privilege on your own willing, you can’t get it back! Your own choice against your own privileges!

  6. galaxy says:

I think democracy do not work in Ethiopia.
It is misued by some destructive individuals or groups.
Look what extremists are doing by misusing the democracy. They need to destablize the country by exercising the democracy they achived.
Ethiopians have so varried interests. excessive democracy can imediately lead to disintegration of the country.

  7. Alem says:

What Abay said was the “revolutionary” type democracy – not Democracy. The type that allowed him to intervene in church polity and assign a patriarch; the type that allowed to embezzle state treasury and not be questioned let alone sent to jail; the type that simply created ministerial departments illegally to concentrate power in the hands of ethnic elite. And finally the type of democracy that operates with the barrel of the gun.

  8. Nigisti Saba says:

Leave alone democracy, even if Woyane rains milk and honey, mana from the sky, Amhara will not be happy. Amhara will be only happy when people kill each other, when all ethnics are banned from using and developing thier langauge, when Ethiopians are dying in millions in one day, when there are no schools, no universities, no hospital, no freedom, diseases, … that is amhara like Selam Beyene wanted.
Selam Beyene is telling us Tigreans are bandas? she did not know her king Menelick was selling Ethiopians for money or for cach. He king sold Djibouti for 90 years for 200 refiles. He divided Tigreans into two, he sold half of them to Italy and half of them he decimated them.Amhara rulers made Ethiopia the poorest country in the world. They ruled 100 years and they made their language a national langauge. They called tehmselves the descendent of queen sheba? and oppressed all ethnics and created ethnic division we see today. In the 20 century, countries developed fast but Ethiopia was held hostage by amhara dictators.
Now Selam Beyene tell us Tigreans by blood bandas? Chfn tilacha yetm ayadersm. Anchin blo PHDS, afer biy dedeb

    • Romeo says:

Whoever you are …you are one and the same with Selam Beyene (whoever she is and assuming she has made such remarks). People like you are drunk with hatred. Your hatred is your disability. It is making it hard for you to distinguish a singular from a plural, an individual from people, a village from the vast universe. Do you understand this basic things? When you overcome this crippling disease, you will become a better person, a loving parent and a positive contributor to society. Otherwise you will be consumed by your hatred. Get some help!

Mario: well said today; but your message must be to every Ethiopian, not to diaspora; It is not only the diaspora who write amharic english. All the amhara chauvinists who are defeaning us by mamma Ethiopia has abadoned even their amharic langauge and you can check all their website amharic written in english. I am hating and disgusted by the narrow chauvinists who never learn anything.

Education is not only academic Mario;Education is more than that. Do not count PHDS please. Did you read the article written by Selam Beyene saying Meles is banda because his grand grand father was banda? How come one member of Meles family who lived 200 years ago pass his bandaness to Meles? She said Tigreans bandas? it is this type of PHDS you on the market.

Anyway, I hope you talk Hailemariam Desalegn to stop speaking english in amharic? He is speaking english in amharic. Tell him to learn amharic and also to have a translator to every word he speaks to the public. It is sickening to hear him saying: ” In english they call it not appreciable? The panel of the Nile gave findings that the dam doe not have appreciable effect on Egypt.” He came out to the public telling us he does not know what appreciable in amharic? It is shame. It has sad all Ethiopians are writing english in amharic. The chauvinists and few amhara are the worst antiamharic themselves. But there is no one who can correct them by they are always right.

please also share your ideas with your Islamicist TPLF central committee that landlockiing Ethiopia by force is a national crime and removing our country men and women from thier land and give the land to Arab investors is more than crime, but 100% national treason.

        EthioZena

You & your likes problem is: you don’t know what you guys are talking about at all! I said repeatedly that I never been woyane & I’m not woyane, but you continue to label me as woyane! I wish I’m woyane! Remember: woyane will never come here & waste his time with you & your likes ! I was just pushed into woyane & I’m writing from where was pushed into!

Woyanes are principled people who stood their ground from the beginning to this day! The diaspora politics is led by a losers who have no guts to stand for what they believe! You can’t tell me about the diaspora politics, coz I was part of it until 2006…..! For your knowledge, woyane don’t know me at all!

EthioZena, I have seen many empty dreams…! How many dreams do you & I had seen in the past? Colored revolution,Jesmine(Arab spring revolution), dreaming to use the Muslim cause as a way to 4Kilo……! Hey man, try to be a real man & discuss about something that you know for sure just for the sake you! If I were woyane you wouldn’t see me here!

The reason I’m here is because I found a free media called awrbatimes for the first time in the Ethiopian diaspora history & I’m using the opportunity that awrsmbatimes gave me, simple!

      • Mario says:

The EPRDF is going forward opening a new way of discussing matters & the empty diaspora are continuing their usual reaction of refuting anything with out any result! Imagine what was 5 to 10 years old 20 years ago , now they are 25 to 30 years old….! All they know in the past 20 years is the EPRDF working day in day out & the empty opposition dreaming empty dreams! In the democratic norms, politician must come serving the people from the bottom up!No need of Hyenas in a sheep skin selected from Amhara, Tigrai, Oromia….just to do nothing like it used to be!

NOW the EPRDF is renewing itself (don’t forget the GTP plan 2) as usual, but the empty opposition are not…! Lets follow the developments together!

Finally , we are a witness that “the Dogs are still Barking , but the Camel had kept on its own way scoring consecutive developments” !

  10. lewegen says:

The means shall not be the end!. Do the cadris of EPRDF have the knowlegde to teach about democracy especially univ. elits.Amaizing all those who came from struggle talk about it everywhere with 0 calculation. They talk about it for 17 yrs.But they have the musculine to do anything hm hm we hate…and they know it

  11. zero says:

teshome…..as long as we have people like you around… it will take more than it should. SAD!

  12. Dima Dimanco says:

Democracy (“rule by the people” when translated from its Greek meaning) is seen as one of the ultimate ideals that modern civilizations strive to create, or preserve. Democracy as a system of governance is supposed to allow extensive representation and inclusiveness of as many people and views as possible to feed into the functioning of a fair and just society. Democratic principles run in line with the ideals of universal freedoms such as the right to free speech.

Importantly, democracy supposedly serves to check unaccountable power and manipulation by the few at the expense of the many, because fundamentally democracy is seen as a form of governance by the people, for the people. This is often implemented through elected representatives, which therefore requires free, transparent, and fair elections, in order to achieve legitimacy
In addition to those formal aspects of a functioning democracy, there are other key pillars, for example,
    •Civilian control of the military
    •Accountability
    •Transparency.

Civilian control over the military is paramount. Not only must the military be held to account by the government (and, be extension, the people), but the military leadership must fully believe in a democratic system if instability through military coups and dictatorships are to be avoided. Indeed, some nations do not have full-time professional armies for the reason that coups and military take-over is less likely. Others, notably the more established powers, typically do have it, because they have had a recent history of war and their place in the world stage may make it seem a necessary requirement.

To achieve the openness that transparency and accountability gives, there is an important need for a free press, independent from government. Such a media often represents the principle of the universal right to free speech. This combination is supposed to allow people to make informed choices and decisions thereby contributing to political debate, productively.
Another criticism of democracy is that sometimes what the majority votes for or prefers, may not necessarily be good for everyone. A common example plaguing many countries which have diversity in race and religion is that a dominant group may prefer policies that undermine others.

Some quick examples include Nigeria which has large Christian and Muslim populations; some Muslims there, and in other countries, want Sharia Law, which not all Muslim necessarily want, let alone people of other faiths. If only a very slight majority can override a very large minority on such an important issue as how one should live, then there is a real chance for tension and conflict.
Equally important are the underlying economic conditions and situations of a country. Generally, it seems, where economically people are generally doing well, where the inequality gap is not excessive, people have less of a reason to opt for more defensive, reactionary or aggressive policies that undermine others.

At the same time, concerns of undesirable social engineering would also need to be addressed, and it is likely that in different countries there will be different “formulas” for this to be successful, for the historical context within which people live, the specific circumstances of the day and various other factors will differ amongst and within nations.
To address such potential issues requires more tolerance, understanding, and openness of society, such that people are not insecure due to the presence of others (and so that they do not, as a result, turn to more extreme/fundamental aspects of their own beliefs). This can come through various outlets, including, a diverse mainstream media, institutions such as religious and legal ones, schooling, family upbringings, ETC…
It may seem ironic to many, considering that one principle underlying democracy is the desire for freedom, but democracies may create a more effective military.

Unlike a totalitarian regime, or, in the past, systems that used slaves, democracies that do not have forced military service, might create a more effective military because people have to willingly chose to participate in military institutions, and may have sufficient pride in protecting their democracy.

Of course, in reality it is more complex than that and democracy may be one ingredient of many, but potentially an important one that is hard to fully measure quantitatively. For example, sufficient funding, technology, skills and so on, are all required too, to transform an eager and enthusiastic military to an effective one.

  13. Semu says:

Abay Tsehaye, the Sugar Engineer! K!K!K! now turns to democracy! Does he really know what democracy means? Does he understand that if democracy prevails in Ethiopia, Abay and his colleagues will not cling to power any more – they will be voted out of office. In fact if democracy prevails today, they will be sent to where they belong – jail.

  14. w.yilma says:

No matter which party and who is the organizer, this kind of discussion need to be encouraged. What is important here is the point of discussion and the openness of the meeting to address the issues raised. The meeting participants should speak out their feeling and their opinions not from hideous and hate political agendas but from the positive perspective to improve future Ethiopian politics to implement democracy. Democracy is a challenge, especially for us Ethiopians. We have many “intellectuals” who preach us about democracy and rules of law. But they terribly failed to show how we can reach their. Except criticizing they never show courage how to improve things. Except spreading hate they never show example how we can improve our political and economic problems. The government should use this seminar as a good opportunity to look itself if participants gets the opportunity to speaks their minds. Although I personally do not have much trust on many of them, it would have been also better to include some intellectuals who have interested to contribute their share from abroad.

  15. jgna says:

Ethiopias fast economic development and fight against poverty is on the hand of those in Ethiopia and those who are participating in the meeting. more than 800 scholars (presidents, deans, directors, department heads). This is first round. other round of 800 will also fellow. They, will speak their mind, they will negotiate, they will reach consensus. And finally they will set directions and implement it in ther respective universities. This is how ethiopia works and will continue to work. Though discussions and consensus. among the agendas, is how to handle multicultturalism in ethiopia. Ethiopia is a colorful country, so it works as consensus from all its people inside the country.
Anyone barking from outside carrying a negative view will not have a room. So, barking individuals like those in esat (eritrea tv abroad) will bring no change. The more we are challenged the more we become strong.

    • Ethiopia Tikdem says:

      @ Jigna
I wish we have the things that you talked about….i hope this talk with the sugar engineer dont send another wave of scholars out of the country like his former war lord did!!

      • jgna says:

        Ethiopia Tikdem and ashebari yiwdem,
Do not worry. Ethiopia is on a safe hand. simply, because it is led by its people from all four directions. South-north-east-west. All Ethiopians are active participants. local people are self administered. they are very happy about that. they also love their country, Ethiopia. we say ETHIOPIA TIKDEM like you. we really love our country. look, when our Ethiopian football team wins! How every Ethiopian feels! look the happiness after success. That is how you can judge the love of ethiopians towards their motherland.
I do not mean, now everything is perfect, but with time will become perfect. As far as the country becomes peaceful (especially from extreme islamists) opposition can participate in the next elections. But they have to accept the results they get and make positive contribution to their country.
So, we will say ETHIOPIA TIKDEM.
        GOD BLESS OUR BELOVED COUNTRY.

        • Mario says:

          Jgna

Remember that you are talking to losers, therefore they will never understand your point! Most of these who are crying here are defeated individuals from the last 38 years , their close families & friends…! I personally know that they have nothing for Ethiopia at all! They can’t even understand that Ethiopia is changed to the point of irreversible! Now there are kilils & they elect their own leaders!

Now, if politicians want to play politics, they must start wher they are known as an individuals , their integrity & service to the people! Kilils don’t need Hyenas in a sheep skin appointed from somewhere like in the time of Minilik, Haileselassie & Mengistu did!

Look at them ! They say democracy while they have nothing like it in them, they say freedom while they have no freedom of any sort!
Ethiopian are laughing at their ignorance of who Ethiopia is at this moment!

  17. Wedi Adi says:

These kinds of rhetoric have been going on for years and years where as the reality in Ethiopia were the contrary. What amazes me is Awramba Times is trying to tell us as if rhetoric of this kind has never been heard from the ruling class. This is a tactic played by Awramba Times to make us feel that something new is coming just keep waiting for it longer and longer.

    • Agere says:

      @Solyana,
they are at least discussing it so eventually they will build consenses, have better understanding and develop and implement it. This should be in my opinion encouraged. With all due respect, suggesting that your way is the only right way is very arrogant. You cannot convince or change anybody with an arrogant standpoint, except making youself meaningless to the whole process.
